AUCTION FAQs
Our Curio Charity Auction FAQs

Thank you so much for wanting to take part in our tzedakah mission to help Jewish world nonprofits help so many others in need. Happy Bidding & Am Yisrael Chai!
Our Curio team of curators truly believe that using your charitable donations to acquire artifacts of historic and sentimental importance is one of the best ways to give tzedakah. We love the combination of giving to a worthy cause, while allowing you and your family to obtain unique heirlooms that can inspire a connection to Israel and the Jewish People for generations to come.

How does the bidding work?
Once you have placed a bid, you will receive an automated email confirmation (check your spam folder). If you are outbid at any point, you will receive a further email updating you that you are no longer the leading bidder and offering you a chance to bid again at the current next bidding increment.
Only bids placed at or over the reserve price of an item will be recorded in our system. If your bid is the current highest bid on an item, your full bid amount will become the new minimum threshold against which others bidders will have to compete.

What if multiple bidders place the same bid amount?
If two bidders or more place the same bid amount, the first to submit will be considered the current high bidder.

Will other bidders see my name and donation amount if I bid and/or win an item?
As per tradition, our charity auctions are both blind and silent. This means that your bids during the auction and information about winning bidders once the auction closes are kept completely confidential. We take seriously issues regarding our donor's privacy, keeping the anonymity of their data and donations in absolute confidence.

What happens when I win an auction?
If you are fortunate enough to be the winning bidder once the auction closes, you will receive an email from us with a link to make your donation, equal to your full bid amount, online via a credit card or bank wire transfer. Please make your donation promptly upon the auctions' completion.

How will I receive my item?
Items are safely shipped to you from Israel, in most cases, and with international tracking. Speed of delivery depends upon the local security status (war), and with the help of God everything always arrives safely. A link to pay for your shipping costs will also be emailed to you with your tracking number.
Please let us know in advance if you have any special shipping requests, such as gift notes, added insurance, use of a specific delivery company, customs concerns, or prefer to pick up your items in Tel Aviv in person at a later date.

Does Curio offer charitable tax receipts?
If relevant, a U.S. charitable donation receipt will be sent to you thanks to our 501c3 Am Yisrael Foundation nonprofit organization. If you require a UK, Canadian, or Israeli tax receipt, please let us know in advance and we will try to accomodate in coordination with our partner charities.
As per charity auction tax regulations, donors who purchase items at a charity auction may claim a charitable contribution deduction for the excess of the purchase price paid for an item over it's reasonable fair market value. Obviously, we always want to help you maximize your donation amount for tax purposes within kosher legal boundaries. Typically the tax receipt is 50% or more of your winning bid amount.

What payment methods does Curio accept?
We accept most major credit cards, Paypal, and international wire bank transfer.

I haven't received confirmation of my bid, what do I do?
Check your spam folder. Unfortunately, if you haven't saved our email address in your list of contacts, many times our emails will go straight to spam.

Our mission-based charity auctions are a great way of attracting new donors, building a database of supporters, motivating existing board members, engaging philanthropic partners, increasing brand awareness, obtaining global PR, and bringing in the crucial funding to move a noble do-gooder initiative onwards & upwards.
